Investing in Your Relationship
Couples therapy can be one of the most meaningful investments you make in your relationship. Creating lasting change requires both the expertise of a skilled therapist and sufficient time to understand and transform relationship patterns.
Effective couples therapy depends on:
- A highly trained therapist with expertise in attachment, intimacy and sexuality, communication, and relationship dynamics.
- Adequate time to explore underlying patterns, make the invisible visible, and help partners create the relationship they want rather than simply manage conflict.
Because meaningful relationship work takes time, our standard couples therapy sessions are 75 minutes. For couples seeking more focused or accelerated support, we also offer Extended Sessions and Couples Therapy Intensives.
Making Couples Therapy Accessible
Many couples therapy practices operate exclusively on a private-pay basis. At The Couples Project, we believe that high-quality relationship care should be as accessible as possible.
To support this commitment, many of our clinicians are credentialed with major insurance plans. We also help clients maximize available out-of-network benefits when insurance coverage is not available, making the reimbursement process as simple and convenient as possible.
Our team is happy to discuss your insurance coverage, out-of-network benefits, and payment options so you can make informed decisions about your care.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does my clinician accept insurance?
Not necessarily.
While The Couples Project is contracted with several insurance companies, individual clinicians must be credentialed separately with each insurance carrier. Because insurance credentialing can take several months, a clinician who recently joined our practice may not yet be in-network with your plan.
We are happy to help you determine whether a particular clinician accepts your insurance.
What will my insurance company cover?
Insurance companies generally require that one partner be identified as the client and have a diagnosable mental health condition that is contributing to relationship distress.
Insurance typically covers a portion of the clinical treatment provided during the session. However, insurance does not reimburse for a full 75-minute couples session, nor does it cover the additional relationship and intimacy-focused coaching that is often part of our work.
For this reason, clients using insurance are responsible for their insurance copay or coinsurance, plus an additional $125 extended couples session fee.
What if you are out of network with my insurance?
Many insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits that can significantly reduce your out-of-pocket costs.
We partner with Thrizer, an out-of-network billing service that can bill your insurance company directly and help simplify the reimbursement process.
Depending on your plan, you may only be responsible for meeting your deductible and any applicable coinsurance, along with the additional $125 extended session fee.
Contact us and we will be happy to help you verify your out-of-network benefits before scheduling.
